Vegan concept.\" class=\"wp-image-1168\" width=\"308\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hearingcarebyhough.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/healthy-diet-01-1280x853.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/hearingcarebyhough.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/healthy-diet-01-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hearingcarebyhough.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/healthy-diet-01-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/hearingcarebyhough.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/healthy-diet-01-scaled.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>When you have three or more risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including heart disease, stroke and diabetes, you may be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk factors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Abdominal obesity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High blood pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impaired fasting blood glucose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High triglyceride levels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low HDL (good) cholesterol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>SSNHL, sometimes called sudden deafness, describes a rapid <a href=\"https:\/\/hearingcarebyhough.com\/hearing-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">loss of hearing<\/a> with no identifiable cause. In some cases, it takes place instantaneously, while in other cases, it occurs over the course of a few days. Sometimes a popping sound is heard before the sense of hearing fades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This condition can occur following noisy activities, like attending a concert at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, or you can wake up with it. Typically, only one ear is affected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cause of SSNHL is a problem with the sensory organs of the inner ear, which is why other symptoms, such as dizziness or tinnitus (ringing in the ears), are sometimes present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately half of the people who experience SSNHL recover their hearing within a week or two. If you receive treatment promptly, it greatly increases the chance of recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSNHL is a medical emergency, so if you exhibit the symptoms, see a doctor immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Are These Conditions Linked?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34325457\/\">study<\/a> entitled \u201cSudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss and Metabolic Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis,\u201d was published in the journal <em>Otology and Neurotology <\/em>in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study participants included 11,890 people. Of this number, 3,034 had experienced SSNHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers examined the data and concluded that those with metabolic syndrome had a significantly higher risk of SSNHL. In fact, the risk of metabolic syndrome among SSNHL patients had a pooled odds ratio of 1.88. Researchers also found that SSNHL patients with metabolic syndrome had much higher chances of poorer recovery. This odds ratio was 2.77.
